Craniosacral Fascial Therapy

Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT)

Gentle, intuitive healing for infants, children & adults

Our bodies tell stories — of birth, growth, stress, joy, trauma, and adaptation. These stories live in the fascial web and craniosacral system, sometimes creating patterns of tension or restriction that limit ease, movement, feeding, development, or emotional regulation.

Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) is a soft, non-invasive technique that gently releases these restrictions — helping the nervous system settle, the body soften, and the whole person return to balance.

CFT blends the principles of craniosacral therapy with fascial release, working with the entire connective tissue system of the body, the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, and the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. This gentle touch invites space, ease, and integration from the inside out.

CFT for Infants

A gentle beginning for healthy development

Birth — even a smooth one — can bring tension into a baby’s body. Positioning in the womb, long labours, medical interventions, or compressive forces during delivery can create subtle strain patterns that affect feeding, breathing, movement, comfort, and the developing nervous system.

CFT works beautifully with infants because their systems are still forming and can respond quickly when given the opportunity to unwind.
This therapy is gentle, baby-led, and deeply respectful of their pace.

What an infant session looks like

Baby remains clothed and supported in a calm environment. I follow their cues — allowing them to stretch, yawn, move, pause, nurse, or be held. The body unwinds gently, naturally. Often babies release tension through small movements, soft cries, deep sighs, or sinking into sleep. At Lori Haws, Registered Kinesiologist , we pride ourselves on providing the highest quality of care and treatment to help you achieve your health and wellness goals. Our team of skilled and experienced physiotherapists use the latest techniques and technology to develop customized treatment plans that are tailored to your specific needs and goals. How CFT can support your baby

CFT for infants may help with:

  • Colic and persistent crying
  • Reflux, gas, digestive discomfort
  • Torticollis and side-preference
  • Tongue-tie, lip-tie, feeding/latching challenges
  • Difficulty sleeping or settling
  • Plagiocephaly (flat head / asymmetry)
  • Restricted movement, arching, stiffness
  • Congestion or breathing tension
  • Overall nervous system regulation and relaxation

CFT for Children

Supporting growing bodies, brains & emotions

As children grow, their fascial system continues to respond to physical activity, falls, school posture, emotional experiences, and everyday stress. Sometimes patterns from birth remain underneath the surface and begin to show up as behavioural challenges, sensory overwhelm, sleep issues, pain, or developmental delays.

CFT gently helps their bodies find balance, allowing more freedom in movement, breath, and emotional expression.

Children often respond beautifully — sometimes with noticeable changes in comfort, mood, focus, coordination, or calmness.

How CFT can support your children

CFT may benefit children experiencing:

  • Anxiety, overwhelm, emotional dysregulation
  • Headaches, jaw tension, neck discomfort
  • Growing pains or movement restrictions
  • ADHD, sensory processing challenges
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Digestive issues
  • Lingering effects of birth or early life trauma
  • Post-concussion or injury recovery
  • Behavioural shifts when the nervous system is overloaded

CFT for Adults

Unwinding stress stored across a lifetime

By adulthood, the fascial system may hold years — even decades — of tension from physical injury, emotional strain, surgery, stress, posture, or repetitive movement. These patterns can contribute to pain, fatigue, restricted mobility, migraines, anxiety, or a sense of being “stuck” inside your own body.

CFT is a powerful yet gentle way to release old patterns and reconnect the body and mind with ease.

Sessions are deeply calming. Many adults describe feeling lighter, softer, more grounded, and more connected to themselves — physically and emotionally.

How CFT can support Adults

Adult CFT may help with:

  • Chronic pain or stiffness
  • Jaw/TMJ tension
  • Headaches & migraines
  • Stress, anxiety, overwhelm
  • Post-accident or surgery patterns
  • Neck, shoulder, hip or pelvic tension
  • Back pain & mobility limitations
  • Fatigue or feeling energetically depleted
  • Nervous system dysregulation

How Sessions Feel

Regardless of age, CFT is:

  • Gentle
  • Non-forceful
  • Client-led
  • Integrative and deeply supportive

There are no manipulations — only quiet listening, subtle guidance, and a soft touch that helps the body release what it no longer needs to hold.

Healing that meets you where you are

Whether you are bringing your newborn for feeding support, helping your child feel more regulated, or seeking relief and integration in your own adult body — the work meets you exactly where you are.

It is slow, soft, intentional, and incredibly powerful over time.
